GALLERY: Canadian Auto Show Offers Taste of Speed

By  |

The Canadian International Auto Show is an opportunity for each of the manufactures to show off their new cars for 2018, by speaking of their selling points and allowing the consumer to get up close. However, this year’s show offers something for the motorsports fan, too.

Both Mercedes-AMG and Renault are showcasing their Formula 1 as part of their displays, displaying the link between motorsports and the streets. It marks the perfect selling point for Mercedes-AMG, after unveiling PROJECT 1, which is essentially a street legal Formula 1 car.

With over 1,000 horsepower and top speed of over 350 km/h, this car satisfies the need for speed for anybody, between the highly-integrated powertrain with a turbocharged combustion engine and four independent electric motors: one for each front wheel, one linked to the crankcase, and one in the turbocharger itself. Essentially, you can go from zero to 200 km/h in under six seconds.

Check out some close-up photos of both Formual 1 cars, as well as the new PROJECT 1.
