Changes Made to Toronto Layout

By  |

For the first time since 1996, the Honda Indy Toronto track has received some layout changes, in relocating pit lane, the hospitality suites and the grandstands.

When the drivers hit the track in July, they will mark their way on to pit road off of turn nine. The stalls will run through turns 10 and 11 on the north side of the track, with pit exit just off of turn 11. Previously, pit road ran along the south side of the frontstretch with drivers entering off of turn 11.

The hospitality suites are now located along the new pit road, versus being on the south side of turn 11 previously. Lastly, the start-finish grandstands have been removed with the stands remaining on the north side of turn 10, south side of turn 11 and north side of turn three.

The changes were made to accommodate Hotel X Toronto, a new hotel constructed on the Exhibition Place grounds, just inside of the Princes’ Gates and  opposite of the Enercare Centre.

“This year marks the 30th year of racing in Toronto,” said Jeff Atkinson, president of the Honda Indy Toronto. “We are thrilled to be able to provide a double feature to help mark the occasion, with the NASCAR Pinty’s Series headlining on Saturday and the Verizon IndyCar Series on Sunday. Fans are in for an exciting weekend of racing at the Honda Indy Toronto this summer.”
